I can't believe it but on April 25th 2009 my 15 month old's cochlear implant fell from his head and he grabbed it and put it back on. He is reaching such mile stones. How awesome is it that he knows it has to be on his head to hear sound...
Hello, I am happily married and a mom to seven children. My oldest is 17. He was implanted when he was six. Then I have a 15 year old, a 11 year old, a 10 year old, a 9 year old, a 5 year old and my youngest is 2. He too is implanted. He was implanted December 15, 2008. Wow, how things are different from one child to the next...I thought I would share my life with others. I hope people read, relate, or learn from my mistakes and accomplishments...
That is so awesome!!! and at 15 months! Amazing! I can't wait for this day! When Aiden first heard sound he would rip the CI off and now, when he reaches up for it, he just touches it and leaves it there! When it does fall off though, it's right to the mouth!

I tried reading back, but couldn't find the answer to this question...
ReplyDeleteDo you use ASL with your sons? I noticed you said that you use total communication... did you mean SimCom (simultaneous communication, signing and speaking at the same time)? There are differing views as to what total communication is supposed to be.
